“Mi ‘andsome” Falmouth working boat

(photo: John Andrews)

The Falmouth Working Boats were boats used to dredge oysters under sail in Carrick Roads.  Oyster dredging is still restricted to sail or manual dredges, and although it is not a serious commercial fishery some oysters are still harvested.

The working boats now are used for recreation and are raced vigorously during the summer – more information about classes and individual boats can be found on the Falmouth Working Boats website.

Mi ‘andsome sports a cheerful topsail in light weather.  She is built using a Kingston Mouldings hull and is a development of KM’s sketch plans.
