IOM Autumn Race 5: 1st Oct 2019
Another interesting day. A forecast of rain, getting heavier through the morning with thunder by midday. I dressed in my best blue water oilskins and proposed we sailed through our coffee break so we could pack up early before we all got too wet. As it happened, the wind died to a gentle southerly, the sun came out and we all over heated, stripping off various layers as the morning progressed.
I issued a warning at briefing that mark 4 had been marginally repositioned. Peter and John T took little notice and managed to sail the wrong side of it on the first lap of the first race. John T managed to bounce back from this with three firsts to win the day and the Shaw Trophy. Martin maintained his good run of form in collecting two firsts to finish second.
