“This model of the sloop/ frigate HMS Amethyst was constructed between 2012-14 using original ship-builder plans, and depicts the ship as she appeared at the time of the Korean War around 1951-2. The hull (1:72 scale) is plank on frame construction, with plating details in very thin plastic card, and the superstructure thin ply laminated with styrene. The model is almost entirely scratch-built, including the two whalers and motor boat. Smoke is from a 12V Graupner unit, and power applied to each shaft independently, via two Viper 15 speed controllers, from Graupner 5 pole motors.”
