The SRCMBC Scale Section will be holding a Model Boat Show in aid of Macmillan Caring Locally, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, and National Coastwatch from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 14th March at the Highcliffe Sports and Social Club in Highcliffe (BH23 5EG). This is a public event, open to everyone.

The charity Macmillan Caring Locally works in partnership with the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to provide the services at the Macmillan Unit and in our community. The Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital is a Specialist Palliative Care Unit and Hospice for patients in South East Dorset and South West Hampshire.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance is the charity that delivers an advanced Critical Care Team to sick and injured people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight when they need it most. Available both day and night, 365 days a year, the Air Ambulance Critical Care Team is called out many times a day to attend road traffic collisions, sporting accidents, collapses and many other incidents.

The watchkeepers of the National Coastwatch Institution provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. As part of the national marine Search and Rescue community they report to HM Coastguard and are trained to work with the RNLI and other rescue organisations. Local NCI stations are at Calshot Tower, in Lepe Country Park, and on Hengistbury Head. The NCI is an independent charity entirely staffed by volunteers.

More information about each of the charities will be available at the show.
