In Memoriam – Arthur Shannon

Arthur Shannon passed away 21st April 2021

Arthur ShannonI was very sad to hear of the death of Arthur Shannon, he was a long standing club member and will be sadly missed by us all.

During my 15 years as Scale Captain I was very lucky to have had the support of Arthur as a stalwart member of the management committee.

He was a regular attendee on the Thursday sailing days at Setley Pond, he attended most of the club events and exhibitions and was always ready to play his part in setting them up and assisting in any way he could.

Arthur was an excellent model maker and had several fine models in his collection and we will miss seeing him sailing them.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to his wife Anne and family in their sad loss.

David

Arthur was always a happy person, he enjoyed sailing his boats and the company on a Thursday, he would always help if needed, he liked a joke, would always share his cake and biscuits and was very knowledgeable in all topics.  He was always first on the list for exhibition’s and would always help to set up and close at the end.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
