Ice on the Pond!
Thursday morning 24th January 2019 and there is a thin covering of ice on much of the pond. Mostly thanks to the efforts of Dave Reith’s RIB and Nigel James’s pusher tug/rescue boat, an area of clear water extended from the car park towards the first of the buoys but a lack of wind discouraged any attempts at scale model sailing! Here are some more photos.
Postscript,6am Saturday 25th January: an overnight warm front passage means that the ice should have melted by daylight today. However the pond temperature is obviously now low and further ice can be expected if we enter another cold air flow.
