IMPORTANT – DO NOT SAIL AT SETLEY THIS WEEK !

TO ALL MEMBERS
IMPORTANT NOTICE: DO NOT SAIL AT SETLEY POND THIS WEEK .

As you will be aware that following the release of lockdown we have been in contact with Forestry England (FC) to arrange the reactivation of the club’s permit to use Setley Pond. Permission to resume was not granted but we had a reply two weeks ago requiring us to prepare and submit detailed operating procedures for both the Sailing and Scale Sections of the Club , Nigel Burt ( Sailing Secretary and Permit Holder ) and myself worked on them and sent them in for consideration together with another request for reactivation of the permit last week. Yesterday we received the following reply from The Recreation and Permits Manager at Forestry England :-

“We have received new guidance this morning advising us that under current government guidance, the restart of permission activity is projected to start on Monday 8th June, and will only be for solo activity or where an individual is meeting with only one other person from outside of their household.

In light of this information this morning, it is important that you remain within our current guidelines and we therefore ask you politely to refrain from using the pond this week. I appreciate this maybe frustrating, but it is essential for us as the land manager to ensure we are able to keep the public, our staff and volunteers safe.”

We are seeking clarification as this seems to override the latest Government allowances of six people being allowed to meet and we will follow up again on Monday 8th but until then
PLEASE DO NOT SAIL AT SETLEY POND THIS WEEK DOING SO COULD CAUSE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH RENEWAL OF OUR PERMIT FOR THE CLUBS FUTURE USE OF SETLEY FOR CLUB ACTIVITIES. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE COMPLY WITH FORESTRY ENGLAND’s INSTRUCTIONS. I CANNOT EMPHASISE ENOUGH HOW IMPORTANT THIS IS!

The club permit is possibly at risk !!!

Thank you in advance for your understanding, we know how frustrating this is and we are doing our upmost to get the permit authorized as soon as we can, at which point we will issue to all members the new operating requirements and compliance to be followed for the club use of the lake.

Best regards

David and Nigel.
