A Billing Boats Neptune from Germany

We have received the following from Horst Winkler in Germany about his “Neptune” model which looks to have been beautifully restored:

schon vor längerer Zeit habe ich die weiße  Neptun auf der Internetseite gefunden. Dieses Modell ist recht selten.

Das Originalholz von billing boats war von sehr schlechter Qualität, sodaß mein Vater sich aufmachte und das Modell mit Flugzeugsperrholz in der etwas vergrößerten

Form (102 cm) zu bauen. Da das Modell damals auf einen Stein auffuhr, blieb es über 30 Jahrein der Zwischendecke verstaut. Der Rumpf hatte trotz Epoxyverstärkung Schiffbruch erlitten.

Vor rd. 3 Jahren habe ich es in den Farben, welche mein Vater damals gewählt hat, vollrestauriert.

I found the white Neptune on the website a long time ago. This model is quite rare.

The original wood from Billing Boats was of very poor quality, so my
Father opened up and enlarged the model with aircraft plywood
Build form (102 cm). Since the model hit a stone back then, it stayed for over 30 years
stowed in the false ceiling. Despite being reinforced with epoxy, the hull had been shipwrecked.
About 3 years ago I fully restored it in the colors my father chose at the time.
