In Memoriam

The Scale Section of the Club is sad to have recently lost two former members:

Peter Gargan

Peter Gargan. It is with great sadness to inform you that Peter Gargan a member of the club in South Africa passed away on Saturday 21st May.  He really enjoyed sailing his boats at Setley when he lived here, then when he returned to South Africa I used to email him a few times during the year and it was lovely catching up with him and hearing about his life in South Africa.  He also used to send me photos, which showed his life out there, he was also able to sail his boats.  He liked hearing about the club so I always sent him the newsletters.

Our thoughts go out to his family and friends

Jacob Roth

Jacob Roth. It is with great regret to advise you that our member Jacob Roth passed away on 10th May, we were advised by his son. He was a lovely man, great to talk to, always came to the clubs Christmas lunches, exhibitions, always at the pond in any weather.

Our sympathy and thoughts go out to his wife Anne and his family, he will be missed by all who knew him.

We have learnt that Jacob Roth’s ashes were scattered by Anne and Richard, his son, by the yellow racing buoy off the Beaulieu River entrance on 5th July 2022. He will drift up and down the Solent keeping an eye on things. If you happen to pass that that way he will be very pleased to see you!
