IOM Summer Race 9: 30 July 2024

Another lovely day at the pond this morning. Eight skippers, sunshine and a gentle breeze.

The wind was generally a gentle northerly, though it did shift through most points of the compass at various times as well as varying its strength randomly. Its random nature meant that just because it paid on one side up the first beat, it didn’t mean the second beat would be the same. We also had wind filling in from behind on the runs and reaches causing all boats to mark round simultaneously – could be very difficult, specially at mark 3 which is a long way away.

Congrats to John M for winning the day, he had all the luck with his own personal breeze, after that it was very close with Robin in second and John T in third.
