IOM Summer Race 13: 27 Aug 2024

IOM sum 24 race 13

The last of the Summer Series this week, not quite sure how, since we are still waiting for summer to arrive!
The forecast southwesterly was great apart from it tended to come from the east. Though there was wind and we completed 11 races, there were lots of calm spots and duff windshifts all over the pond. I thought I had been singled out to get the worst of the wind until I saw the results and realised that it was difficult for everyone apart from John B who appears to have sailed the whole day in a decent breeze.😄😃
After 2 races we changed the course to go round mark 3 to starboard which I am not keen on since it can cause a fair amount of strife with boats having to tack onto port to get round the mark in front of boats coming in on starboard, this all at a distance which is difficult to judge. It did cause some issues though generally all went OK.
Congrats to John B for winning the day, which enabled him to finish 2nd in the series in front of Hugh with John M winning the Summer Series.
See you next week for the start of the Autumn Series.
