IOM Autumn Race 05: 1st Oct 2024 – Shaw Trophy
I looked at the forecast this morning and was delighted that it showed a stiff northerly breeze, unfortunately I noticed that that was for Wednesday, today’s forecast was a moderate northwesterly.
A select group of 6 of us turned up to sail for the Shaw Trophy, though we were promised a northwesterly, it could only be described as “fickle”. It is not that the wind was overly light, as we got 8 races in, it just came as small zephyrs from any direction on all legs, a most “interesting” breeze that I would be quite happy palming off to the scrap heap. I was very fortunate, a crisis at home meant I had to leave during the second race. I don’t think I could have retained my sanity sailing all 8 races!!
Congrats to the rest for completing the morning and to John B for winning the day and the Shaw
