IOM Autumn Race 06: 8th Oct 2024

My thanks to Nigel B assisted by Hugh for running the racing. I pulled a sicky, nothing to do with the very wet and windy forecast! Looking at the results, I would not be surprised if Nigel offers to stand in again.

7 helms turned up this morning to be met by a blustery south west breeze. But as always the force of the wind was not actually on the pond. So it was decided to go with the “A” rigs which led to quite a few nose diving with a lot of rudders flapping about in the air!!!!!!!!

The course was a triangle, sausage, triangle course. Starting 5/7,1,3,6,1,6,1,3,6,finishing 4/9. We still managed to get in 10 races with the longer course.

After 5 races Graham had gear failure with his boat 57 and then raced with his other boat 82 with his “B” but he struggled to keep up with the “A” rigs.

Unfortunately we lost Brian also after 5 races.

We had 3 different winners. John Bennett winning 3, Martin Hart winning 2 and Nigel Burt 5.

The big plus we didn’t get any rain that was forecast, so all helms left well pleased after a good mornings racing and dry!!!!!
