IOM Winter Race 4 : 24 December 2024

IOM winter 2425 race 04

Good to be back on the water after three weeks off. It would have been even better if the wind swooshing over the trees appeared on the pond. While thinking about course setting, Robin did mention that it didn’t matter where we sailed, we would get all points of sailing on each leg. That was a truism, though when the wind did gust it generally came in from the southwest. the main thought on course setting was to keep it short to enable us to finish races.
With a fickle wind, place changing was the order of the day, John B managed to go from first to last to first in one race, Robin won a race having lagged behind by 2 legs on the first lap and John T went from first to last on one final beat. In effect what was needed was luck up the last beat.
Congrats to John M for winning the day with Hugh second and Robin third.
