IOM Winter Race 12 : 18th February 2025

Hello all, where do I start, the wind appeared to be coming from the ESE force 3/4 and it was difficult to set a course that incorporated a beat at the start line. After the usual democratic process 7 skippers went to the east bank and a start line was set at 57, 3,1,6,3,1,6 and finish 57. The buoys look in completely different positions when viewed from here and I think most skippers became disoriented  at some point in particular at 3 and 1. One boat went aground, one boat had a breakdown, one boat got attached to buoy 3 and 4 boats had ties. The final results for race 12 were Ist Nigel, 2nd John Martin and 3rd Martin Hart. I apologise for allowing too long for repairs between races and as from next week 2 minutes will be allowed between races after the last boat crosses the finish line. Last but not least Nigel will not be with us next week as he will be having his long awaited operation on Monday. We all wish you well and look forward to a speedy recovery and hope to see you back on the water.
