IOM Autumn Race 02: 8th Sep 2020

It looked to be a typical Setley day when we arrived this morning. With a southwesterly promised, I launched my boat to run down the lake in a northerly! Gordon’s boat understood the weather and went round in circles until it was caught and went home with mechanical problems – hope it is fixed for next week.
After race 1, which Martin Hart won by a mile, the wind generally settled to blow from the south. This sounds good, but with many different wind lines and even more calms the racing proved “interesting” – a number of skippers had “if only” moments on long run from 3 to 6.
Congratulations to Martin Hart for comprehensively winning the day with John T and John M being the best of the rest.
