IOM Winter Race 10, 8 Feb 2022 – Fijicicle Trophy

The forecast brisk south westerly was great in the car park as we arrived, however we sail on the pond and not the car park. The wind on the pond was very patchy, with what there was, mostly on the east side.
To make the most of the wind we used marks 3, 4 and 5 – the marks I always have difficulty rounding, I either give them too wide a berth or go the wrong side of them. We also used mark 1 as a windward mark that was prone to be in a flat calm. Oh the fun of Setley!
I think we all had both good and bad races to some degree. Hugh borrowed a boat from Martin’s fleet and won the first two races, Andy is starting to find his way round the pond, winning one race and being unlucky not to win more, Nigel, John T, John Be (2) and John M (3) were also race winners
